Supported Platforms
Chartbeat Video tracking is supported for our standard website tracking integration and for native mobile apps tracked with our iOS, Android, and React Native SDKs.
Native mobile apps (iOS, Android, and React Native)
Video engagement tracking is available for native mobile apps that use the Chartbeat SDK. Once implemented, video views and engagement from your app appear alongside your web video data in the Video Dashboard and the Real-Time Dashboard, so you can compare how videos perform for app and web audiences.
Unlike website video tracking, there are no player plugins for native apps. Instead, your app developers send Chartbeat the state of the video player directly through the SDK: once when a video loads, and then every few seconds while it is playing. Each video needs a unique identifier (a path such as /video/123) that is used consistently everywhere the video appears, so that views of the same video from your website and your app are counted together.

Native app video tracking requires both the Video Engagement add-on and the Native App Integration add-on. If you are not sure whether your account includes these, contact your Customer Success representative or support@chartbeat.com.
