You may observe that the number of pageviews is less than the number of concurrents for articles appearing in your Real-Time Top Pages list. This is caused by a nuanced difference in the way we track the two metrics:
- Pageviews reflect completed sessions. These include visitors who have closed their browser window, navigated away from your site, or have been idle on your page for more than 2 hours.
- Concurrents reflect active sessions which are not yet complete. While a visitor still has a view open to a page on your website or app, the pageview for this session has not yet been recorded.
There is some expected lag during the conversion from a completed session to a pageview, so you may not see the data update instantly.
