Frequently asked questions
Why is the share count different from total number of posts found? (E.g., if my post about this article was shared 55 times, why do I only see 2 total posts found for this article?)
While Link-Based Posts aim to capture a representative sample of on-platform social engagement, there are limitations to what data is collected, including:
- Facebook does not allow access to posts shared in private groups due to privacy restrictions and Facebook's terms of service.
- Tubular (which powers this product) only tracks a specific set of accounts (“creators”).
What does powered by Tubular mean?
Tubular is part of the Chartbeat suite of products as of 2023. It is the only solution to provide a unified view of the content, interests and behaviors of 1. audiences across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitch, TikTok and more. With the largest social video database covering over 15 billion videos and 40 million creators, Tubular helps the world’s largest media properties grow their business and take the lead on social by anticipating trending content and new creators.
Why don't I see any posts for articles that have Facebook-referred traffic?
There could be a few different reasons for this.
One common reason could be that the domain of an article doesn't match your Chartbeat host domain name -- in this case, we wouldn't have any data available for that mismatch.
If the above doesn't seem to be the case, you can write in to support@chartbeat.com for help troubleshooting what is preventing posts from appearing.
Why do I see a difference in reactions between Chartbeat and Facebook?
This could have changed between when we collected the data last and now. We collect the data every multiple times a day so please check again after some time.
Whose posts can I expect to see?
All Facebook posts that have links to your stories that are not in private groups and qualify as creators' posts.
Why am I only seeing Facebook data?
We are starting with Facebook since it is the largest social driver of traffic to publishers’ sites, but we are looking into adding more platforms to this product in the future.
