An Evergreen badge indicates that an article continues to generate sustained readership and meaningful engagement well beyond its initial publication cycle. This designation highlights content that maintains steady long-term interest, consistent organic discovery through search, and a continuous influx of new readers. Editorial and audience teams can use this badge to quickly surface high-value archival stories ideal for recirculation, content updates, and ongoing distribution.
How Chartbeat identifies Evergreen content
Chartbeat scores each article based on its traffic patterns. We look at how much of the traffic arrives after the first two weeks, how much of that later traffic comes from search, how consistently the article receives traffic day to day, and how many new readers it continues to attract. Articles that show strong signal across all of these dimensions receive the Evergreen badge. Scores are refreshed daily, so a recently published article can earn the badge as its post-publication traffic matures, typically about three weeks after publication at the earliest. Only articles with enough traffic to score reliably are evaluated.
